On the one hand, we offer the CityEngine with a node-locked license, and the novel CityEngine Pro with a floating license - allowing for flexible network licensing installations. With the CityEngine 2009, we introduce a new flexible pricing model. Most tasks that can be achieved through the GUI of the CityEngine 2009 can be invoked also with the novel Python programming interface - as well as certain tasks that are not available from the GUI to speed up and streamline repetitive tasks. By changing it, the generic reports which can include arbitrary numbers such as gross floor areas, number of units, or landuse mixes are updated automatically and can be exported to Excel and Co. Rule-based reports can be generated with the CityEngine 2009 to gain a better understanding of the urban design.

The image below on the left highlights in red the occluded windows and on the right the accordingly adjusted model. This allows for the unique procedural creation of realisitc and detailed building models e.g. The CGA Shape Grammar now comes with occlusion detection functionalities to query the spatial context. The image below shows the new street example scene provided with the CityEngine. The street generation functionalities of the CityEngine 2009 introduce new features to create detailed street geometries with round curbs and connection information. The image below shows an imported shape file with attributes, which can be used to create digital city models, reporting analysis or buildings models with detailed facades. Supported formats now include Autodesk's DXF, OpenStreetMap and - new - ESRI SHAPE (including generic attributes). Novel comprehensive import and export capabilities enable to rapidly build accurate and visually compelling city models by aggregating terrain data, image maps and GIS files such as building footprints, mass models or street network. * Parthenon Model in Collada with instanced assetsīuilding City Models from Geospatial Data * Facade Model in Collada with instanced assets Note that the assets are instanced! The export of CityEngine 2009 comes with major improvements: (1) Large scenes can be handled better with the introduction of flexible mesh-optimization options available for all formats, and (2) the Collada exporter now supports instancing of user-defined assets which makes the CityEngine an ideal asset distribution tool for real-time applications as well as for offline rendering. Plus, extensive UNDO/REDO capabilites are now available. In the so-called immediate mode, complex and highly detailed models are updated at interactive rates. The CityEngine 2009 introduces interactive editing tools allowing for intuitive building geometry manipulation.
